Celebrating Success at CPS

BOOM Day

Our K-2 students are working on fluency in reading and math.  You’ll hear your child talk about monthly fluency checks - encourage your child to share his/her goals, data, and growth with you. We will celebrate this growth on BOOM Day! On BOOM Day, Administrators visit each classroom and recognize students with the highest growth in reading and math fluency. The Shining Star Award will be given to a student who exhibits the character traits of a leader. BOOM Day is a big deal at CPS and we hope that you will have lots of conversations with your students about the ways we celebrate success at CPS!

Leader in Me Rallies

Each quarter, all students will celebrate our student leaders at CPS. Our student-led rallies will showcase our Reader Leaders, Math Masters, and Super Shining Stars. Students with the highest growth in reading, highest growth in math, and who’ve exhibited leadership skills for the quarter will get to ride the BEE BOP during the rally. We will also award trophies for the classes with the highest growth in reading and highest growth in math. At CPS, everyone can be a leader!

Additional Information

Attendance is important in Pre-K!  The first step in establishing good school habits is regular school attendance, so your child must be at school unless he/she is ill.  A written excuse will be required for all absences.  Please send a note with your child when he/she returns to school after being out for any reason.  If you take your child to the doctor, please ask the doctor or nurse to write an excuse.  Pre-K guidelines require children who do not attend class or are late for an excessive number of days without a medical or other reasonable explanation to be removed from the roster.
