About the Teacher

Education

I attended Cook High School and received my GED in 1986.  Later, I went to Cosmetology school and received my certification in doing hair.  I realized later in life that my calling was not in cosmetology. I later became inspired by a dear friend to become a teacher so I pursued an Education Degree in Early Childhood. I attended Brewton Parker College and received my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood.  Next, I attended Valdosta State University and received my Masters in Reading Education. I currently hold a Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning and have been teaching for 18 years.

Experience

I have taught fourth grade, Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. In addition to these, I have worked in the  (Early Intervention Program) in Kindergarten and first grade. I enjoy working with students of all ages, but my passion as an educator is teaching Reading in the Primary and Elementary grades.

Bio

On my personal time my hobbies include reading, clogging, and spending time with my family. I also enjoy listening to music and singing. I sing in a gospel group known as Perfect Grace. I am married to Dwight Bennett, and I have three grown children: Howard, Stephen, and Heather. I also have one grandson, Liam. During vacation time we like to take cruises, go to the beach, and take off to the mountains in the Fall.
