About the Teacher
Hello! My name is Regina West. I am a first grade teacher here at Cook Primary School. I graduated from Valdosta State in December of 1992 and began my teaching career the following August of 1993. I received my Masters from Georgia Southwestern University in 2003. I have taught first grade and Kindergarten throughout my career and even did 3 years in Second grade. My greatest joy is teaching young children to read. Seeing students grow and realize they can read is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.
I am happily married to Johnny West. Many of you know him as the Fire Chief of our Cook County Fire Department. He is also our Emergency Management Director for our County. Together we have 9 children. He has 6 children and I have 3 so together we have a large family. We also have 5 grandchildren who are the light of our world. Between His job and our children we lead very busy lives! In what spare time we do have I enjoy traveling, camping, and spending time with my family. I also enjoy swimming and hanging out around my pool. Earlier this year, I accomplished my goal of becoming a certified firefighter. I enjoy helping my husband with the fire department and also assisting with Emergency Management Projects that help serve our community.
Thank you for allowing me to teach your child. I love watching them grow and learn throughout the year. It takes all of us working together to create the most successful experience for your child.
